Virgen del Carmen (16. Juli)
As a port city with fisherman tradition, Alicante can’t be without of a feast in honour of the fishers’ patron saint. On this day the fishermen adorn their boats with flowers, deck them out with flags and the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary “Virgin del Carmen” and set out to sea to pay homage to their patron. Meanwhile the boat procession is on the sea, there is a lot of spare time for celebration on shore.
Moros y Cristianos- The Feast of Moors and Christians
It might be the most well-known festival at the Spanish coast, where performer in custom-made suits move into brightly decorated towns and villages and re-enact the fights and combats of the Moors and Christians during the period of Reconquest.
